Writing

At Cowley St Laurence, writing is taught and embedded throughout the wider curriculum. Our curriculum has been desigend with our children in mind, and is constantly evolving with their needs in mind.

We teach Writing in such a way that it links seemlessly with reading and the wider curriculum. In Literacy Lessons, children develop skills through reading and writing to work towards a piece of extended writing once a fortnight which is linked to their theme.

Understanding of grammar, punctuation and spelling is constantly interwoven with our writing curriculum. Spelling lists for Years 2-6 can be found at the bottom of this page.

Children are taught many different rules in grammar as well as how to use a range of punctuation. This resource can help both parents and children to understand this topic. grammar.lgfl.org.uk/

In Key Stage One and Early Years, writing is seemlessly linked to phonics to enable children to learn to read and write well.
